Andrew Paul Keiper

Andrew Paul Keiper is faculty in Maryland Institute College of Art’s Animation and Film programs, where he teaches sound design and mentors thesis students. After receiving his BFA in painting from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, he taught at St. Mary’s College of Maryland before pursuing his MFA from MICA’s Photographic and Electronic Media program. Andrew was a 2016 Rubys Artist Project Grantee with his collaborator Kei Ito, which funded their monumental scale work Afterimage Requiem. At the time of its exhibition in 2018, this work received national and international coverage, including stories in the Washington Post Magazine, BBC Culture and the Baltimore Sun. In 2019 Keiper and Ito brought their exhibition Archives Aflame to Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, NC. Keiper’s sound installations provoke listeners to actively move about the exhibition space, negotiating their politics as they negotiate their own mix of sounds.
