Carrie Hott is an interdisciplinary artist based in Oakland, California. Her work is informed by a roving research practice that explores the current and historic infrastructural systems that mediate our collective experiences and perceptions. Her research interests include whales, artificial light, blackouts, lace, nets, tools, and the systems often employed to learn about our surroundings. She has presented her work as part of exhibitions and projects across the country, most recently at Bay Area Now 8 at YBCA in San Francisco and the Museum of Capitalism in Oakland, as well as a permanent project, The Key Room, at the Headlands Center for the Arts. She has recently presented public programs at the Mills College Art Museum and Beta-Local in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hott is a recipient of the 2017 Artadia Award in San Francisco.
