Heather Snyder-Quinn, MFA is an Assistant Professor at DePaul University’s School of Design, Co-Director of the Design Inquiry Lab and Co-Chair of Speculative Futures Chicago. Her creative and pedagogical work use design fiction as a method to engage with radical technologies, including AR, AI, and IoT, and has been presented and exhibited nationally at UCDA, CAA, AIGA, RISD, Design Incubation, and TDC and internationally at SIGCHI in Glasgow, Design Principles in Barcelona and The Frans Masereel Centre in Belgium. She recently received a Society of Typographic Arts award for her experimental publication “Lost in Translation” which utilizes GoogleTranslate’s AR feature. She previously taught at Rhode Island School of Design and has worked for over 23 years at agencies including, SapientRazorfish, Fitch, and Essential Design. In 2001 she opened her design consultancy, creating large-scale projects for clients including MIT, IBM, Harvard, The United Nations, Forrester Research, and OpenPediatrics.
