Melanie Manos is an artist based in Detroit and exhibiting internationally. Her interdisciplinary exhibitions look at systems, structures and everyday situations that invoke a sense of instability, precarity, and confinement due to economic and gender discrimination. The body is central to her process, taking on risky and tenuous performative endeavors laced with humor and a sense of the absurd. Manos collaborates with artist Sarah Buckius as The ManosBuckius Cooperative (The MBC), focusing on labor and human/technology interface through multi-channel video installation, live and live-to-feed performances. MBC videos have played in video/electronic festivals in over twenty countries. Manos teaches digital, time-based, and engagement courses at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design, and is the Detroit Editor of the New Art Gazette.
