Michael Borowski uses metaphors of building and architecture to examine the societal values embedded in the built environment. His expanded photographic practice shows parallels in the construction of identities and communities, as well as images and architecture. His work has been exhibited at Site:Brooklyn (New York, NY), The Colorado Photographic Arts Center (Denver, CO), the Prairie Center for the Arts (Peoria, IL), and Espace Projet (Montreal, QC) and the festivals Art in Odd Places, and FIGMENT (New York, NY.) In 2019, he was awarded a grant from the Graham Foundation in Chicago, IL. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Virginia Tech.
