sair goetz

sair goetz writes instructions and enacts them. Their performance, video, installation, and signage works seek to leverage the weightlessness of language to complicate, manipulate, and annotate text-driven reality via the specificities of embodiment (a lemon in their pants, buttons on the left side of their shirt, and 300lbs of ice in their hands).

sair received their MFA from the Ohio State University in 2017 and their BA in Visual and Media Studies, Arts of the Moving Image, and Documentary Studies from Duke University in 2011. In 2017, they won the Dedalus Foundation post-MFA fellowship. sair has exhibited internationally and completed many residencies across the US: Comfort Station, IL (as Respite Station); Open Windows, CA; SPACE, ME; ACRE, WI; Little Paper Planes, CA; Vermont Studio Center, VT; Weir Farm, CT; Sedona Arts Center, AZ (as fourfor collective); Elsewhere Museum, NC.
